How to apply for a STSM

Application process

Use the COST online registration tool to register for an e-COST profile and submit your request for a STSM. Select Action CA16231 from the dropdown list. Submit the online STSM registration by pressing the “submit” button. The COST online registration tool will now generate the formal STSM application, which you should download.
Compile the STSM application package consisting of downloaded formal STMS application and supporting documents.

Supporting documents:

  1. Letter of invitation to the applicant from a senior researcher affiliated to the host institution confirming that the STSM applicant can perform the activities detailed in the STSM work plan on the agreed dates. The final dates of the STSMs have to be negotiated between the applicant and the host.
  2. Motivation letter including an overview of the background and rationale of the STSM, motivation for the visit to the host laboratory, aims of the STSM, proposed activities that will be performed, a plan of work for the visit highlighting the proposed contribution to the scientific objectives of ENOVA
  3. Letter of support from the home institution/PI.
  4. Short (2 page) CV (including a list of academic publications – if applicable).

Evaluation process

E-mail your STSM application package as one pdf file entitled with your surname to the ENOVA STSM Coordinator AND Co-coordinator (Brankica Filipic or Siobhán McClean, Please, write ENOVA STSM in the subject line of your e-mail. The STSM coordinator will distribute the STSM applications to the ENOVA STSM Group members and ENOVA Core Group, who will assess and approve/reject the application. The coordinator will inform applicants (via e-mail) about the decision (acceptance/rejection according to the majority of votes) as well as inform the MC Chair and Grant Holder Institution.



Applicants are encouraged to contact the hosting institution prior to submitting their application to ensure that proposed outcome of their STSM agrees with the objective of this action.
